I’m in the industry of developing people.

As an HR professional of a rapidly growing company in 2010, I fell in love with the philosophy of Strengths: Understanding your Strengths unlocks your potential and leads you to greater performance.

People are genuinely curious about their own unique potential and are are hungry to better understand and be more connected to each other.

I believe that when we discover our natural strengths and how to develop them as workers, leaders, collaborators, and human beings, we can achieve greater outcomes.

With my HR expertise and experience coaching and facilitating the Gallup Strengths model, I decided to lead the effort to build a Strengths-based organization and never looked back.

Very early on in the process I was surprised by some of the things I saw. People built strong relationships with each other quickly and gave each other the benefit of the doubt because they understood how their peers naturally operated. Over time they challenged and supported each other more. People and teams grew stronger, listened better, and asked for help in real time.

Empowered by our results, we continued to improve the quality and effectiveness of individual and team performance through Strengths-based talent development systems and conversations that showed up everywhere within the organization: HR and management systems, performance conversations, water cooler talk, individual development plans, and cross-functional teams.

Our successes also included:

  • Grew the team from 15 to 85 team members.

  • Onboarded with Strengths for each new team member, creating quick yet deep connections across the entire organization.

  • Implemented quarterly Strengths-based performance conversations to develop team talents.

  • Built a “talent bench” of Strategic Account Managers from all over the country who were waiting for an opening within our organization.

  • Built Strengths into the client onboarding process creating strong connections between clients and the Account Team through Strengths and talent-focused conversations.

The key to engagement is storytelling and real-life relevancy. My coaching style is interactive. I create an environment where participants are encouraged to explore shared experiences and understand how their Strengths play a role in a particular situation. The “portable benefit” of Strengths is that you take your talents wherever you go. The work we do together benefits employee’s live outside of the board room to family, friends, our communities and wellbeing. Strengths-based talent development aids both professional and personal development.
